Holly Humphries
Holly Humphries (1999) is a Bristol based artist working across painting, illustration and installation. In her work she merges imagery of organic natural forms with the sensual human body to design fictional conformations. Curvaceous, blossoming, floral shapes amalgamate into seemingly figurative details of fleshy, erotic features which often have a strong female presence. In this way Humphries alludes to the universal and unavoidable sensation of desire and attraction in the system of life. Working in sharp layers of flashy colours, she creates contrasts of soft and hard, flat and rounded to construct forms which refer to graphic, man-made materials such as latex and plastic.
